hey i don't doubt that some of you liked king prawn before the gig, i know many who liked them long before the gig was announced. and i don't doubt that it was a good gig - it sounds like an alright one, a lot of mini moshers of course but what would a beachie gig be without them? it would be NOTHING, NOTHING I TELLS YA! i just don't agree with the attitude of let's suddenly go mad on a band for no good reason. don't turn the post into an attack by me on king prawn or the local scene. it's an attack on the attitudes of people who claim to like a band loads seemingly for the sole reason that they have played or are playing locally, even if this is the case for only a few i don't think it's right and am voicing my worthless opinion - someone's got to disagree with the yeter pang people or it'd be no fun around here.

Personally I starterd liking them in 2000, and went to the gig in March 2001 in which Yeter Pang, Shuriken and Professor Pumpernickle supported. But who fucking cares? No one!

100% right ants, i like the way you think. this is what they are intended for but it's not exactly how it works out (though it does in most cases). hence 50 people for Ride On The Twelve or some other shit-hot local band - hundreds for Lost Prophets, a band that are nowhere near as good as some of the GY bands simply because they are heard of. i just don't think this is right. i'm not doubting that people liked king prawn or that people came to the gig to hear them and got into them but .. ah you've heard it all before. here's another thing - without the hype of that gig most of the people who went probably wouldn't have thought it was anything special - let's say this band were from GY and were just playing regular gigs - noone would give them the kind of attention they got. just look at nonsense - they deserved so much better than they got - they're one of the best bands i've ever heard - not just local bands and noone round here appreciated their talents but if they were famous and played a gig it would be out of control. can we call this fair? no. but it's the way it is so i guess i'm just gonna have to live with it. can't beat a good bit of pointless complaining though.

True...it doesnt seem fair when a local band gets less people than a band that may not be as talented...not sure that Lost Prophets arent talented though...but with these local bands they have the problem being that solid charge way too much for local gigs.....Spiders doesnt get a great deal of people mostly...although has a great atmosphere...West Marsh does and that is good exposure...but local bands are mainly playing to local people...its the older generation that actually is interested...

n it wasnt so long ago that king prawn refused to play the beechy after the first time because they said they were too big and didnt like the area
